This is the absolute best place to stay!! This was my first time trying Airbnb and I was a little nervous, especially going with two little kids. The place is beautiful, and has everything you need and more! Donna has thought of everything you could possibly need/want, from the complementary bottle of wine to the coffee, tea, and white noise machine. The bungalow is conveniently located in Hillcrest so it only took us 12 minutes to get to Seaworld, and 9 minutes to the Zoo. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to coming back!! Thanks Donna!!
We selected this Alcazar unit based on location – and it offered so much more! The location is prime – one block south of University in the heart of Hillcrest – Wow! … we walked to every restaurant and bar. Aside from location, the Alcazar units are completely updated with upscale, fun and thoughtful finishes – reflective of San Diego and modern living. Our one bedroom bungalow had a very comfortable bed, bathroom with great lighting and every amenity a renter could hope for. Although we didn’t use it, the kitchen was completely updated and stocked with supplies – coffee, spices, etc. It was also nice having a washer and dryer in the unit. The owner, Donna, was onsite, welcoming and attentive – we wished we had more time to hang around the courtyard. We will stay at the Alcazar any time we are in San Diego.
Four of us (plus toddler) had a comfortable long weekend stay here. The unit had everything we needed, and we were especially impressed with the kitchen. Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s were within walking distance so we did make use of the kitchen when we didn’t feel like eating out at the abundant restaurants in the area. We also made use of the very thoughtful guide book to San Diego. The parking situation was accurately described.
This bungalow is a dream! Artfully restored and thoughtfully furnished, the Alcazar had everything necessary for a memorable visit to San Diego. The furnishings are modern, but the vintage flair adds a nice touch. And having outdoor space was enjoyable (think: tea at sunrise). Donna was very responsive and provided all necessary information on the bungalow and surrounding neighborhood in a timely fashion. Thank you again!
Let me start with the bad… parking was a hassle couple of days where we had to drive around for 10-15 minutes to find parking. Place was a bit smaller than I expected. Now the good… We would rather stay in this awesome bungalow again and deal with parking than stay in a place twice the size with parking. It’s in a great location. Outside patio is VERY nice! We spent more time in Alcazar court/Hillcrest area than the other San Diego attractions. Place was very clean and you can tell that Donna has gone to great lengths to have everything in the place that guests might need to enjoy their stay. To top it all, Donna was very nice and quick to respond to whatever we needed. I would definitely recommend the place and stay here again.
Alcazar Court is a true gem! Looks just as nice in person as it does in the pictures. Beautifully decorated, thoughtfully appointed and spotlessly clean. Lively, central location with plenty of nearby shops and restaurants. Donna also shared restaurant suggestions and has a very informative guide/instruction book she has put together. Parking could be a little tricky at times, especially on the weekend – but never had to park more than two blocks away. Overall wonderful stay!
We had a wonderful, long weekend at Alcazar Court. The unit was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully furnished. We loved the pieces of ‘Old California’ throughout the unit. It was like stepping back in time, but with all the modern amenities we could want…a/c, wifi, cable, Chromecast. The unit was comfortable and quiet, yet close to everything…restaurants, bars, grocery stores, cafes. We were able to walk to Balboa Park, Mission Hills and on a particularly lovely evening, we even walked back from Little Italy. Donna has created a truly lovely place to stay in San Diego. We would recommend the Alcazar Court to everyone and would stay there again on future visits to San Diego.
Donna’s place was great! Great Hillcrest location – Walkable (less than 5 mins) to lots of restaurants, bars, and shops, but it still felt neighborhood-like. The unit is very nicely decorated and makes good use of the space. Though it is small, it is very functional, and has high-end finished and amenities. It’s probably best suited for a couple or a small group of close friends, as the only bathroom is accessed through the bedroom. We were a group of 3 friends and slept comfortably in the bedroom and the pull-out sofa.
