The studio at Alcazar Court was just perfect. It’s very small and great for the minimalist traveler! The exterior of the property is gorgeous, and the inside is darling with all you might need for your stay. We got a lot of rain the week we were there, but we were able to spend one afternoon working from the back patio table. Location could not have been better—walking distance to tons of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, and Balboa Park!
A charming little bungalow with a nice front patio to eat breakfast in, and a kitchen with every amenity you could want, thoughtfully laid out. Fun decorations, a good bathroom and a guide to local restaurants, stores etc. We did not need a car because bus service is so good in SD and stops were close, just occasional Lyft cars. Ideal for a couple. Responsive host too.
Donna’s Alcazar Court bungalows are exceptional! No detail goes unnoticed, cleanliness and organization are both high priorities, and every space is used efficiently and effectively. Not to mention the unbelievable aesthetics and comfort! We will be repeat visitors, for sure! Thank you, Donna, for providing an incredible experience for your guests.
Spotless, charming bungalow, centrally located in San Diego! This place was by far the best AirBnB place we have stayed in ! Decor was artful, 1930's Hollywood but not cluttered. Delightful front patio to enjoy your morning coffee in the sunshine. Plenty of extras and amenities-as if they thought of your every wish and need. It's a busy street but the bungalow is quiet inside. You can walk to shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!
Donna's bungalow is simply a delightful place in a fantastic location. My husband and I were in the area to visit our first grandchild and this historic bungalow has been beautifully renovated, is in a great neighborhood and met all of our needs. The bed was particularly comfortable and we also enjoyed the private patio area. Coming from Minnesota we tried to be outdoors as much as possible. We also enjoyed the easy walks to local restaurants, and short drives to Balboa Park and other interesting places. Street parking was not difficult. Although the price was a little higher than we had hoped, this location did not disappoint and was worth the convenience and quality. We look forward to staying in one of Donna's bungalows during future visits.
Alcazar Court is a beautiful place to stay. Very centrally located, and the bungalow is gorgeous: thoughtfully and comfortably decorated. We especially loved having an outdoor space to enjoy morning coffee & an evening cocktail. I was a little nervous about parking after reading some other reviews, but we had no issues finding street parking on the same block. It was the perfect spot to come home to after spending our days walking, hiking and exploring San Diego. Truly, it's one of my favorite AirBnB stays.
I was visiting San Diego for a business trip and wanted to get out of the corporate downtown area. Donna's place made me feel much more at home - it was cozy and the perfect size for a solo traveler. I asked if it would be possible to check in early since my flight got in before check-in time and unlike a hotel, I wouldn't be able to story my luggage elsewhere. They promptly and graciously accommodated me 🙂 When I had troubles with the TV, I reached out and they called me and fixed the problem immediately. Would definitely stay here again!!
We loved our time here! The bungalow was clean, well-stocked with everything you could ever need, and felt very comfortable. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do during our stay in San Diego. Several grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, etc all within walking distance. Less than 10 minutes from the airport without being under flight lines and minutes from Balboa Park and the zoo. We did not find the parking situation to be overly challenging at all, despite the other reviews we read. If you aren't worried about walking a block or two, the parking was not a problem. We would stay here again for sure!
This is a wonderful place: stylish, super clean, with modern conveniences and all of the charm of its historic architecture. It's a very short walk to everything in Hillcrest, and easy walking distance to Balboa Park. The hosts are very responsive: The batteries in the heater remote were dead and my text was answered instantly with a fix. We'll look to stay again, maybe next time in a one bedroom rather than studio.
We were a bit worried that this place would feel small, given that we have a newborn, but it was the most efficient use of space I’ve ever seen and felt so incredibly comfortable our entire stay of 5 nights! All of the small details were thought of. The bed was super comfortable and they left a bottle of champagne in the fridge (we were there over NYE). The location is awesome and super easy to get to most neighborhoods in SD. The only caution is that there is not parking (which we knew about) and the street parking around the apt is all 2 hour limits! We ended up getting a ticket, so just be careful to adhere to the posted signs.
The location is amazing. The place has everything you could need in a cozy space. We tend to do a lot of cooking and the kitchen was well supplied. The place is super close to Balboa Park and in a very walkable neighborhood with loads of restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores. The front outdoor space was nice to enjoy coffee and read. We didn't find parking to be difficult, you just have to be aware of the signs as Donna points out.
This AirBnB is fast becoming our go to place to stay in San Diego. Beautiful bungalows with access to some of the best San Diego has to offer. My wife and I like going for morning runs in Balboa Park and Mission Hills. Then spending our afternoons exploring some of the great uptown neighborhoods like Hillcrest, University Heights, and North Park.
Our family with our 3yr old loves our stay at Donna's, from the amenities to the thoughtful details like the amazing lather brand soaps to the fully stocked kitchen, it was a comfort coming back to make dinner and relax after a full day of sightseeing! I'm absolutely in ❤ with whatever voodoo, plush topper and linens Donna uses on the bed because it wa (Website hidden by Airbnb) N. Thank you!
Great place. Very clean and comfortable. The hosts clearly have thought of everything, from snap on reading lights to extra phone chargers to a welcome bottle in the fridge. Only thing we would change is the soft mattress on the bed...we understand mattress levels are subjective but our backs are killing us after a few nights on them. Other than that the place is great and the neighborhood is filled with tons of places to eat and drink.
I think this might be the best AirBnB I've ever stayed in anywhere in the world. I've never seen such a well-arranged array of amentities - from the kitchen to the bathroom to the guide to the fun neighborhood of HillCrest. Also, we have a toddler and they had kids books, a pack and play, and a high chair for her. When we needed to get in early for nap time, they worked to accommodate us. And every message was answered promtly. Plus, the classic style of the place was beautiful. It's pretty amazing how they created such a thoughtful and well-appointed home away from home.
I just can't say enough good things about our stay here.
So if you want to come to San Diego, this is place to stay.
